The construction of Formula One’s 300,000-square-foot paddock building reached 60 percent completion on Thursday. A big accomplishment in a short amount of time.
Nov. 16-18, this 39-acre site will serve as the main hub for the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, as well as all the future Grand Prix Races Las Vegas will be hosting. This building is state of the art and will also offer high roller suites. One of the most amazing projects and opportunities that has come to the city of Las Vegas.
Liberty Media, the F1 parent company, is spending more than $500 million on the project, the land acquisition, and building the four-level paddock building.
A long-term commitment is demonstrated by Formula One President and CEO Stefano Domencali’s investment in Las Vegas. He said that Formula One is confident that Las Vegas will bring something special to the sport. In addition to how Las Vegas is reinventing itself, Governor Joe Lombardo said bringing Formula One to Las Vegas was the cream of the crop.
With the arrival of Formula One racing in November, Las Vegas will take its commitment to professional sports to the next level. As well as the vast amount of revenue it will add to the Las Vegas coffers.
In order to get the building to where it is today, trades workers have been working 20-hour shifts, and Renee Wilm, the Las Vegas Grand Prix CEO, expects 24-hour shifts to come as construction reaches its final stretch. By the end of September, the paddock building should be complete.
The system will be tested in October to ensure nothing needs to be corrected. Move-in will begin in November.
On the corner of Harmon Avenue East and Koval Lane, the paddock building will house VIP spectator areas, driver pits, and the start/finish line.
The facility will be available year-round, not just during race weekends.
