We are not speaking of a “she shed” or a “man cave,” just finding a little “me space.”
This space could be a little nook beside a stairway. Finding a wall along with a nice window or an enclosed balcony even a spot deep inside a roomy closet.
If you live with family members or roommates, there are times when you want to be by yourself, so it’s nice to have a little place at home you can call your own.
Homeowners still like open-concept living spaces for some parts of the home; however, interior designers have clients that are asking for private spaces.
How do you create a little space for privacy? First, think about what you want to do there. A quiet reading room with a bench to read on or a meditation space with floor cushions. Think about your lifestyle and the activities that bring you joy and a sense of calm at home.
Here is another option: Create a glassed-in space. Sliding doors installed in a room can section off part of it. Or, to delineate a personal area more simply and affordably, consider creating a feature wall with wallpaper, murals, or a different color of paint.
Add some pillows and warm lighting, and some green plants and a diffuser if you like aromatherapy.
Lastly, if there is no other room for a little refuge, the bathroom can become the ultimate “me space.” There are waterproof, wireless, voice-activated speakers in the bathroom marketplace. Plus, you can install a crackling fireplace.
