What will people be saying once it’s opened? That’s so George!
When the Durango resort opens this fall in southwest Las Vegas, you will find the George Sportsmen’s Lounge set to open at the $780 million property. The bar, restaurant, and entertainment venue get their inspiration partly from the term “George,” which is traditional casino slang for a big tipper.
Trying to make George happen goes beyond slang. George can be anyone or everyone. It’s about being true to yourself and embracing the moment. It’s not about impressing others, according to Fine Entertainment Management, creator of The George.

This venue will be open 24 hours a day and feature bar seating and bar-top gaming, sports viewing on 60-plus TVs, and a 56-foot LED screen. Plus, The George offers full-service dining, a patio with games (cornhole, shuffleboard), bottle service, and a stage for live entertainment. The George will also have on-premise betting kiosks and serve some menu items at the sportsbook next door.
It looks like the days of traditional sportsbooks with dim lighting and lots of betting stations are not the wave of the future. The George represents a complete re-imagination of the sports betting experience.
The menu will offer soups and salads, creative flatbreads, sandwiches and burgers, main courses (including seafood and steaks), and craft cocktails. Weekend patio brunches will feature signature charcuterie boards, bottomless mimosas, and live music.
Other venues already announced for food and drink are Eat Your Heart Out, a food hall; Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant; Summer House; and Bel-Aire Lounge.
