This summer has been extremely hot and many people stay indoors for a good part of the day. This is a great time of the year to start a DIY project in your home. What is wonderful about this is that the project doesn’t have to be expensive to look expensive.
The following are some ideas for a project you might want to take on.
Mirrors as a headboard. You can use the mirrors horizontally to make the bed area to look wide, or vertically to make it look higher or in a grid pattern like windows. The mirrors are a great way to bounce light and color into a space.
Removable wallpaper. Wallpaper has become a hot trend. If you are not sure you are ready for pattern on your walls, try using a removable or temporary wallpaper.
Incorporate Industrial elements. Industrial pipes can be used for ladder rungs and holding up shelves.
Rice paper in shadow boxes. Rice paper is both modern and neutral and can go with any motif. Another idea is to put large pieces of rice paper in frames.
Curtains made from drop cloths. Who wouldn’t love no-sew curtain? Drop clothes are the same weight as cotton curtains and offer a lot of privacy. Get some drapery pins and attach it to the rod. Then add grommets and you are good to go.
Succulents in Sand. Very small succulents are hearty enough to last for weeks and possibly months. Put them in a glass jar or vessel along with white sand and that makes a stunning accent piece that will look great in your home.
Affordable side tables and carts. This type of furniture doesn’t have to be traditional. You can use unusual pieces like garden stools painted a striking color to make the area unique and not spend a fortune.
