It is a fact- People are drawn to windows, especially if there is a view. If you have many windows you have to consider the placement of furniture. Is it okay to place furniture in front of a prominent wall of windows? Will it detract from the view? The following are tips to get the best view from your windows and implement a great floor plan.
When choosing your furniture – choose pieces that are low and have low backs so they do not obstruct the view.
Choose furniture that is light in color, they will be less distracting.
Use elements that will add visual height – tall drapery or vertical mirrors.
Create a seating area that uses the view and window.
Bring in glass elements like tables to extend the aspect of transparency.
Don’t overcrowd the window area- keep it minimal – you don’t want that space to feel crowded.
Use modular pieces like ottomans and chaises.
Bring in the mirror element. The light will bounce off the window to the mirrors.
Use a window wall as a focal point for the room.
Add some colorful artwork. It can help frame a wall of windows and add texture and color.
