It’s a new year and we should set new goals for ourselves in many categories’ including fitness. The residents in Summerlin are quite fortunate since there are an abundance of amenities that are suited for many way to stay fit and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Summerlin is located on the west side of the valley. The community includes over 150 miles of award-winning trails. There are 250 plus parks of all shapes and sizes – from doggie parks to parks with basketball courts, tennis and pickleball courts, softball, baseball and soccer fields. There are also community swimming pools for all Summerlin residents and if you like to play golf there are 10 public and private courses.
I left the best for last – Summerlin is adjacent to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. This area is known for great rock-climbing spots and hiking areas. Lately it also has become a popular spot for cycling.
Six of the fitness centers located in Summerlin have group fitness classes including weight training, Pilates and martial arts. During the summer months Downtown Summerlin has yoga on the lawn and other types of classes.
There are special events for those that want to participate. The Tour de Summerlin is an annual biking event that offers 40-60-and 80-mile courses through the scenic community. On the same day there is the Summerlin Half Marathon. Both events start and end in Downtown Summerlin. There is a scheduled date April 24- that is pending if restrictions are lifted.
There are many restaurants in Summerlin that offer menus with specific diets in mind and there are private fitness facilities like Lifetime Athletic, Tru Fusion, Pure Barre and Dance Dynamics to join. You can find almost everything you like in fitness and healthy living in Summerlin.
